Our Commitment to the HERD

Since 2015, Our Park has served as a private haven for Thailand’s most resilient giants, like Jeab, who are our innspiration to continue. You can read about her here.

Our mission is simple: to replace a history of mistreatment with a future of dignity. By choosing a no-riding, no-chains philosophy, we invite you to move beyond tourism and into a space of true conservation. Here, experience is defined by the peace of our herd and the intimacy of your connection with them.

Restoration

We provide a secure, lush sanctuary for elephants rescued from across Thailand, focusing on both physical healing and emotional rehabilitation.

Legacy

Your presence fuels a sustainable mission. Every visit directly funds the medical care, nutrition, and long-term protection of our majestic residents like Baby Ming Muang.

Freedom

We champion the "No Riding, No Hooks" standard, allowing our elephants to express their natural behaviors in a serene, chain-free environment.

BEYOND THE TOUR: A Partnership in Conservation

Every visit to Elephant Rescue Park is a direct contribution to the lifelong medical care and sanctuary of Thailand’s rescued giants

Welcome to our Elephant Park. Our sanctuary is more than a destination; it is a dedicated center for the rehabilitation and protection of Thailand’s rescued giants. Every encounter here is structured to sustain our conservation efforts and ensure the lifelong welfare of our residents.

Under the guidance of our mahouts—the lifelong guardians of each elephant—you are invited to observe and engage with the herd on their terms. From preparing medicinal supplements to joining them on their daily forest walks, your experience is entirely dictated by the natural rhythms of the sanctuary.

This is an opportunity to learn the true stories of resilience behind each elephant and support a future built on respect, liberty, and sustainable practices.

Our Frequently Asked Questions!

We focus entirely on elephant welfare. There is no riding, no shows, no chains, and no bullhooks. All activities are designed around the elephants’ natural behaviour, ensuring a respectful and ethical experience for visitors.

Yes. Every elephant at the park has been rescued from difficult or abusive situations. Many arrive underweight, injured, or traumatised. The team works with veterinarians and experienced mahouts to rehabilitate them physically and emotionally.

Yes. The park follows strict ethical guidelines, including:
• No riding or forced interactions
• No performances or tricks
• Limited group sizes
• Natural food and enrichment
• Freedom to roam, bathe, and socialise

• Positive reinforcement only

Visitors can prepare and feed natural food to the elephants, walk alongside them in the forest, observe their behaviour and social interactions, learn about their rescue stories, watch them bathe naturally, and take photos at a respectful distance.
Yes, please inform your Guide about any dietary preferences or allergies on the day of your tour.
For safety reasons, we do not allow rucksacks or backpacks on the elephant walk. As you walk with the elephants, they are free to roam around you, which poses a risk that an elephant might grab your bag with its trunk, mistaking it for food. You can use the storage lockers at the Park, or you may leave your bags in the locked vehicle you arrived in. If you need to bring any urgent medical items or similar necessities during the walk, please inform your Guide.

Your visit directly funds elephant food, veterinary care, rescue operations, habitat maintenance, and caregiver salaries. Choosing an ethical sanctuary helps reduce demand for exploitative elephant tourism.

Recommended items include comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, a refillable water bottle, a camera or phone, and clothes you don’t mind getting dusty. The park provides food for the elephants a uniform, boots and drinking water for guests.

Programs range from half‑day, full‑day to overnight experiences. Each includes transportation, food preparation, elephant interaction, and educational sessions.
We recommend that you spend the night in Chiang Mai city before your visit to the Park as flights, buses, and trains can often be delayed and we are unable to wait at stations or airports. If you prefer to go directly to the Park and have us wait for you, we can arrange a private vehicle. The cost for the vehicle will be provided once we have your specific requirements.
